We're there and then some--you've totally crushed my original goal of $500. I can't thank you enough for your enthusiasm and generosity!!

It's nearly impossible to describe the positive impact (GOTR) has had on my daughter. She sees herself improving every week and comes home proudly to talk about how much further she went. It fosters a sense of inclusivenes that is subtle but powerful. This was really something that she didn't think she could do. And we all know how it can change our lives when we get into something and discover that, indeed, we can surprise ourselves!

The quote above is from a parent whose daughter joined Girls on the Run at Maret last spring. I helped bring GOTR to Maret last year, and I want every 3rd through 8th grade girl in DC to be able to part of this amazing program.

Girls on the Run is an afterschool program that seeks to instill a lifelong love of running and healthy living through training 8-13 year old girls to run a 5K.

In addition to being a coach and site liason at Maret, I also serve on the Board of Directors of the DC Council. The DC Council has grown from one team of 9 girls in one school to over 2,000 girls in over 120 community centers, public, charter and independent schools in all 8 Wards of DC! It has been incredible! This year alone, GOTR will provide $198,000 in scholarships for girls to participate in the program.

Girls on the Run uses exercise, positive reinforcement and encouraging role models to help girls discover the confidence they need in the critical pre-teen years and beyond. The program culminates in a 5K Race - this season's race is December 4th.

I would like to ask you to join me in raising awareness and scholarship funds for Girls on the Run-DC. My goal is to raise $500 on Wednesday, November 9th and I would like to invite 50 people to donate $10 each to help me reach that goal. (Of course additional donations over $10 are great too!) The reason I’ve chosen Give to the Max Day is because there is a chance for the organization to win an additional $25,000 if they have the most individual donors on that day.

Need more inspiration – check out the video from our Spring Race Day -http://emilyweissphotography.com/webshow/GOTR6/ . Interested in being a Buddy Runner or running in the December 4th 5K Race, visit: www.gotrdc.org.

Girls on the Run is so much fun! Join the fun and donate $10 on November 9th to Sally's Girls to the Max Team!

Thanks for your support!

Sally
