  • This captures our mission of economic empowerment. Hear the hopes and dreams of my friends/coworkers from the Gardens.

  • We value caring relationships which means telling students like Thaddeus (right) that Jordan was/is better than Kobe.
  • My wonderful and beautifully diverse staff - some of the hardest working people I know.
  • Ja'shaun aka JJ always gives me the biggest hugs. This outfit is fitting since she always bakes me playdough "cookies".
  • Ronald loves to dance. If you say thriller, he will give you an incredible Michael Jackson impersonation!

I'll never forget the words of Rev. Alexia Salvatierra during the CCDA conference in Cincinnati my junior year in college. I had no idea at the time that her words would solidify my passion and calling to urban ministry. She talked about the part of Matthew 9:36 that says, "When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them..." Jesus having compassion meant understanding each person's hopes and dreams, fears and failures. One of the core values we have at Little Lights is compassion, and we are striving to embody this kind of compassion as we love our neighbors in Southeast DC.

    Jonny, I read about your organization online and it is an awesome ministry. So many programs impacting children and young people. It is amazing to see God working in you through this organization. I also like the fact that there is a CBC of Maryland involved!
