Mission

The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington strives to create a vibrant and purposeful Jewish community through caring for those in need, deepening engagement in Jewish life, and strengthening the bonds among Jews in the Washington area, in Israel, and around the world.

Programs

With an annual campaign of more than $25 million, The Jewish Federation of Greater Washington supports more than 40 local agencies, schools, youth groups, and community service programs, plus more than 45 synagogue educational programs in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. These include three Jewish community centers; eight Jewish day schools and the Partnership for Jewish Life and Learning; agencies providing a range of social services to the elderly, the infirm, the unemployed, and children and adults with special needs; services that help new immigrants settle in the Washington community; and Jewish identity and education programs for children, teens, and college students.
In addition, The Jewish Federation supports 17 national Jewish agencies and two international agencies--the Jewish Agency for Israel and the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee--which provide help for new immigrants to Israel and humanitarian relief and community rebuilding around the world.
Additional funding for the above is provided through grants from The Jewish Federation and the United Jewish Endowment Fund and through special campaigns and directed giving.
We also provide directed funding for humanitarian relief throughout the world, including our Israel Emergency Campaign for the Israeli victims of terror.
