For Give to the Max Day: Greater Washington, PostSecret Creator Frank Warren is fundraising for IMAlive: the world’s first text based peer-to-peer network for suicide prevention.Frank will be generously matching all $10 donations up to $15,000 on November 9, 2011.

Frank knows what it’s like to struggle with mental health issues and has volunteered on many night shifts answering calls on HopeLine. Recently, Frank was awarded the ‘Mental Health Advocacy Lifetime Achievement Award’ but he is most proud of the time PostSecret helped keep HopeLine out of bankruptcy.

Frank knew the national suicide prevention hotline was in financial trouble so he went to the PostSecret community for help. In one week over 900 people raised more than $30,000 allowing HopeLine to continue offering help and hope. Since then, Frank has continued to support HopeLine in several initiatives, including the world’s first text based peer-to-peer network for suicide prevention.

The IMAlive Online network is the first live online crisis network with 100% of its volunteer staff certified and trained in crisis intervention.

More recently, Frank appealed to the PostSecret community again and together they created the most comprehensive and complete database of suicide prevention recourses in the world. The PostSecret App uses this resource to instantly connect people in need with hope and help with the touch of their finger.

    i just want to say thank you for everything you have done. not only have i battled depression myself, i lost one of my best friends, and my nieces father to it. it's just a permanent solution to a temporary problem. thanks again frank.

    I had a fiance who commited suicide in 2009. He planned his suicide for two weeks. He went online and searched for his way out. My wish is that the next time someone searches for a way out, they find Imalive and get the help they need. If my job wasn't so demanding (I'm a police dispatcher), I'd be one of those volunteers... Maybe one day I will. Thank you, Frank. For the postsecret blog and for the support you give to organizations like Imalive.
