We're the capacity-building machine for Montgomery County's cultural community.

As Montgomery County's local cultural agency, our goal is to protect and sustain our cultural community. And this is how we do it...

We believe in teaching people how to fish. Our professional development and capacity-building workshops help introduce ways and new technologies that cultural communities can leverage to build stronger bases of support, even during these tough economic times.

We like to play matchmaker. Whether that means matching up a dance organization with a stellar corporate volunteer, introducing marketing managers to the new media (like bloggers and Patch.com editors) or connecting nonprofits with clean energy providers through the Non-Profit Energy Alliance (NPEA), we like aiming and shooting Cupid's arrow.

We bat for the cultural community. Our year-round advocacy efforts with legislators at the local and state levels help develop strong and consistent policies that protect and support the County's arts and humanities organizations.

We can't help but be loudmouthed about the cultural community. Enter DOandGO.org, the cultural calendar we manage and promote; MontgomeryTraditions.Org, a microsite featuring stories of folk and traditional artists; and the yearly Executive's Awards ceremony, where we recognize grantees and outstanding individuals and organizations who contribute to Montgomery County's cultural community.

We believe that creativity fuels tomorrow's innovative workforce. This is why we support arts education programming through in-school and after-school arts integration residencies like our Arts S.T.O.P Bullying and science and math programs. We also encourage young artists through two yearly awards to graduating high school seniors: the Fran Abrams Creative Writing Award and the Ida F. Haimovicz Visual Arts Award.

We do other things, too. Our other programs include our seven grants programs, creative placemaking through the Public Arts Trust and managing the Betty Mae Kramer Gallery and Music Room.

Help us help others. Your donation maintains and sustains our vibrant cultural community -- donate today!
